Abhyanga literally means exercise. It is a body massage using warm herbal oils including til, vatatma, kumari, tailaparni, dharu , rusmari, pudina, and tulsi. Various techniques such as rubbing, sliding, kneading and energy balancing are employed to bring forth a deeply relaxing response from the nervous system. It has a balancing effect on all three doshas or body types. It also helps mobilize toxins, promote youthfulness and increase energy. A steam bath is highly recommended after this massage.
